Original Acrylic Painting on Belgian Linen Canvas
This piece is an original painting from my latest collection ‘MORE OF ME’
The second piece completed in my ‘MORE OF ME’ collection, and another piece that further set the tone for the entire body of work.
Ive always been drawn to moody olive green tones. Sometimes I love leaving voids of space for the raw linen to show, but with this piece I had a craving to create something with depth.
I layered many layers of thin acrylic paint, one over the other until I achieved my perfect version of an olive green, one that feels dark, but also has a brightness and pop to it.
After so much consideration to the background, I didn’t want to then cover it up… I knew I wanted to do paint palm trees (a gesture to my lifestyle and environment) but it was important to keep it loose and soft.
I love how this piece turned out. Its gritty, moody but still playful.
‘MORE OF ME’ has been an opportunity of reflection and realignment with myself. I have always resonated with the saying, "everything happens for a reason," especially during times of discomfort. Through the lessons and growth of the past twelve months, this belief has found a deeper resonance.
The concept of ‘self-love’ varies for everyone, but for me, it is closely linked to my creative practice. Recent events in my life have gifted me with a deeper respect and appreciation for the precious nature of my creativity. This gratitude extends to my spiritual and physical connection with my body, which I explored through these works.
Through vulnerability, colour and playfulness, I was fortunate to produce these 12 original paintings, which I am deeply grateful for. I hope you feel a sense of peace and harmony whilst experiencing them, and I thank you for sharing this period of growth with me.
